Sachse Construction
After seven years of substantial growth, Detroit-based contractor Sachse Construction relocated to a prominent midtown location. Our team worked with Sachse to design a state-of-the-art workplace using raw materials and graphics to showcase their brand and Detroit’s history.

vision
Focusing on Sachse’s core values, the new location consolidates their team on one floor plate to foster communication and collaboration. Neumann/Smith focused on designing a space that embodies the Sachse team; refined yet also light, lively, and human-centric. From the raw, structural materials used to define the space to the color palette helping to clearly navigate throughout the floor plate, we created a unique showpiece for both visitors and employees.

detail
The condensed floor plate includes a mix of open workstations, collaboration spaces, meeting rooms, lounge, café, and gaming area. Garage style doors provide flexibility to accommodate meetings large and small. To reinforce the Sachse brand, company colors and branding elements are infused in the design through materiality and artwork. Big, bold elements including statement furniture pieces and lighting complement the sophisticated new Detroit headquarters.

secret
Sachse Construction is known for their strong company culture, driven by core values called “Rayisms.” Every element of Neumann/Smith’s design was selected to fit the client’s brand and mission. This is evident as you walk through the space, from the colors of the baffles to the wall decals that show the Rayisms namesake, “Ray-Z-Bar.”
