Oakland University’s (OU) goal is to provide high quality, affordable housing and dining facilities for up to 4,000 residential students by 2030. To help achieve that goal, the new Hillcrest Hall, will be an enticing option for sophomore and junior students to enhance the perception of campus housing as a full service, living and learning environment.
Designed as a “step up” from the freshman housing, Hillcrest Hall will target students who are seeking further independence, and will act as a solution to overcrowding, while increasing student retention and graduation rates.
Opening in the fall of 2018, the building will include 752 beds, common areas, lobbies, classrooms, lounges, and food services in an “all you can eat” style dining hall. Other amenities include central laundry on each floor, a fitness center, and electrical and IT rooms. An outdoor linear plaza will provide flexible exterior open space for special events and group activities.
This new 5-7 story “U” shaped building located on the southern residential quad will align with the exterior building design standards to create consistency across OU’s campus.
