Description
Inspiration from the past brings economic revival to the future.
Immersed in the teachings of the Orthodox Jewish Chabad-Lubavitch movement, the foundation of the Harry and Wanda Zekelman campus is steeped in cultural values. Yet the design of the buildings is fresh and modern, an update on the conventional boarding school look that still accommodates centuries-old traditions. The new 4-acre campus houses up to 180 middle and high school boys and includes a 25,000 sf educational building and a 20,000 sf dormitory with space for 120 boarders. Two mirror-image wings along a long axis contain a study hall, eight classrooms, a large dining room, teachers’ lounge, and staff offices. The partitioned dining room provides two separate eating areas, and is served by kosher kitchens, two apiece to separate meat and dairy. In anticipation of future growth, the campus was designed to accommodate an additional 20 dorm rooms housing 60 students. The classroom area of the building was designed to accommodate a future second story.AWARDS
