Health Plan of Michigan is the third largest Medicaid HMO in Michigan.  After an extensive search, this fast growing, privately held company decided to move to the new One Kennedy Square building in downtown Detroit, which was designed by Neumann/Smith.  Neumann/Smith provided programming, space planning and interior design services for the two-floor, 44,000 sf suite to accommodate future growth. 

 

Private offices for four executives and six directors are decentralized to be located with the departments they supervise.  Managers are in glass fronted private offices to visually open the plan and foster communication while maintaining sonic privacy.  Custom furniture was designed for executives and directors while furniture standards are defined for managers and other staff.  The work stations have lower panel heights for a more collaborative work environment.  They are also equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and technology to improve employee productivity and aid in recruitment and retention.

 

The suite is vertically separated with the lobby/conference area, corporate executives, finance, administration, and information technology on one floor, and care management, member services, support, and the executive team on the second floor.  Although customers rarely visit the suite, touchdown areas allow medical professionals who do visit Health Plan of Michigan to stay connected and work while they are at the facility.
